Quilt Market Preview - Part 1 * After our first day at Quilt Market in Kansas City, I can say that we are finally seeing lots of young quilters coming to market, buying for quilt shops, working in the suppliers' booths, and beginning to influence the products that are being shown.
It is very exciting!
Of course we are always looking for what is new and different, and seeking new ideas that are *leading* trends rather than following or repeating trends.
There is a huge crop of young designers whose work is coming to the forefront now, and it is so fantastic to see these fresh ideas being shown in old and new manufacturer booths.
What is perhaps most exciting is to see a new color perspective being expressed by these designers, that combines old and new, retro and contemporary, vintage and hip.
There is a cheeky sense of humor, a charming sense of whimsy, and an air of adventure as we stroll across the show floor, admiring the creativity that is sprouting for the fertile ground that has been nurtured by contemporary quilters over the last several years.
Very exciting!
Here are just a few things that we've seen that we love - and we think you'll love as well.
All of these will be shipping over the next few months, and we'll publish another Quilt Market preview in next week's newsletter.
