To commemorate the first permanent English settlement in America at Jamestown, this wonderful pattern features the Flagship Susan Constant, the largest of three ships to set sail from London on December 20, 1606. An appliquéd sailboat with three masts highlights the quilt and a background of waves and a Mariner's compass are paper pieced, but can be modified to your favorite technique. Lots of great quilting hints are included! Fabric requirements include: a variety of fabrics that are no larger than 1/8 yard; 1/2 yard for inside border, outside border and binding; 1 1/8 yard for backing; 38 sheets of 8 1/2" x 11" lightweight tear away foundation stabilizer; thin batting approximately 36" x 46"; 5 yards of Steam-a-Seam II; Teflon pressing sheet.
