Katagami - Pine Sprigs & Leaves - Indigo US $9.75 |
Ivory, Indigo This large scale, faux paper stenciled print features large, stylized sprigs of pine boughs accompanied with maple leaves all set over a linear backdrop. The timeless technique of paper stencils has been used for over 1000 years and the word, Katagami, is made up of two kanji. "Kata" means template or pattern, and "gami" means paper. The traditional palette and technique was usually used for kimonos. Larger trees are about 4 1/2", from the 'Katagami' collection by the Allentown Art Museum for Red Rooster Fabrics. |
