Consider the combination of tulips and a four-element block pattern right out of a south seas batik. The results? Kupaianaha! (Fantastic!) At first glance this 42" X 42" Na Kulipa or Tulip Vases Pattern including a 21" block pattern, has Hawaii written all over it, but as you sort out the pattern four vases and border tulips emerge. Imagine the colors that will represent and highlight this union! Kamaha 'o! (Wonderful!) To make this pattern, select two contrasting fabrics for your quilt top and a coordinating fabric for the backing. A 100% polyester bonded batting is recommended to highlight the echo quilting. Yardage requirements for the quilt with border includes 1 1/4 Yards applique fabric, 1 1/4 yards background fabric, 1 1/4 yards backing fabric, and 44"square batting. Add 1/2 yard for binding. The block requires 18" square applique fabric, 21" square background fabric, 21" square backing fabric, and 22" square batting. Add 1/4 yard for binding. To place the block applique design "on-point" use a 30" square for the background and backing.
