Katagami - Chrysanthemum Fantasy - Cream
This large scale, faux woodblock print features stylized chrysanthemums swirling together creating whirling, floral fantasies. The timeless technique of paper stencils has been used for over 1000 years and the word, Katagami, is made up of two kanji. "Kata" means template or pattern, and "gami" means paper. The traditional palette and technique was originally used for kimonos. Flowers are about 3 1/2", from the 'Katagami' collection by the Allentown Art Museum for Red Rooster Fabrics.
