African Import - Tuareg - Mali Leaf Batik - Indigo
Large scale paisley shapes that resemble stylized mimosa leaves are filled with dots and petal shapes as they form neat rows over a solid ground. Drawing on West African history, this collection of indigo batiks is influenced by the Tuareg people, sometimes called the 'Blue People' because the indigo pigment of cloth in their traditional robes and turbans stained their skin blue. Today, the traditional indigo turban is still preferred for celebrations. Best for art quilts, test for color fastness. Batik, paisleys are about 3", from the Tuareg collection. Imported from Mali, West Africa.
