Hans Christian Anderson wrote "The Princess and the Pea" in 1835 about a young princess who had to be tested to prove she was really a princess by a queen mother who put a pea under twenty feather mattresses. Of course, the little princess was so delicate that she tossed and turned, proving that she was a 'real' princess and worthy to marry a prince. Where is the story about the prince having to prove he was a real 'prince' by doing the same? Hmmm. Mattresses with Princess is about 11 1/2" tall, from the 'Far Far Away' collection by Heather Ross for Windham Fabrics.
