Everyone can use some ‘bear hugs’, and tonight’s exclusive Free Quilt Pattern features our best-selling, heartwarming Bear Hugs collection. The panel & coordinating stripe display black, brown, & polar bears, and even Pandas walking hand in hand.
To make this 59″ x 59″ quilt, you will start with the adorable 36″ x 44″ panel, then add a textured paw print, filial stripe, and then a Hoffman Hand-Dye for the outer border. This uplifting quilt design makes a great baby quilt, or even a wall-hanging for nature lovers.
PLUS – you’ll receive Free USA / 50% off INTL shipping when you order the fabrics for this exquisite quilt pattern (orders $100 and over, no coupon needed).\
Order the pattern as configured, or customize it to your liking with any of our thousands of fabrics. Just place your desired fabrics in your Wish List, and these fabrics will appear in the Fabric Selector below the pattern.
Having just returned from the 50th Anniversary of the International Quilt Festival in Houston, of course I have to share one of my favorite quilts with you!
This exuberant image is “Joyful Spring” by Hiroko and Masanobu Miyama, of Nagano Japan.
This happy quilt uses machine piecing, applique, fusing, embroidery, and hand-dyeing.
The artist statement reads: “I wanted to make a fun quilt, so I made all the characters jump for joy. Mount Jonen is our town’s symbol. These are reverse appliqued with over 4000 pieces, 1900 leaves, and 300 flowers of apple trees.”
This quilt reminds me of how our daughter Sophie Quinn used to play with our golden retrievers when she was little. She still loves our Goldens!
Tonight’s Free eQuilter Pattern invites you to enjoy a gorgeous Sunflower garden. These large golden flowers are illustrated in a painted watercolor style with splashes and drips of multi-color paint.
To make this 52″ x 70″ wall-hanging or lap quilt, start with the 24″ x 44″ rainbow sunflower panel. Then piece the borders with the coordinating allover and striped engineered border print. The bright sunflowers really pop against the solid black background.
Imagine walking through a sea of sunflowers, carrying that sunshine into the winter months with this beautiful quilt!

For most of us in the US, daylight savings ends tonight, which means we get an extra hour of sleep Sunday morning. Yay!
The last couple of days I have been at the quilt festival photographing the quilts and meeting with talented artists. It has been an exciting time. I have had fun standing in front of my 2 quilts, telling viewers the stories related to my quilts in the SAQA Camouflage and Sacred Threads exhibits. eQuilter is also sponsoring several exhibits and the Master Award, so our logo is all over the place. I had lunch today with master Japanese quilter Sachiko Chiba, who makes her large intricate applique quilts all by hand!
I know you may be distracted Tuesday night, but watch out for my first post-festival report going out around midnight Tuesday night. The quilts this year were vibrant, detailed, and so creative!

Tonight I’ll be arriving in Houston, to photograph the quilt show, and meet up with the quilting community. On the eve of this big show, I’d like to share with you one of my favorite quilts from the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham UK this summer.
This is “Blooming Mandala” by Helen Creasey.
You may remember that a year ago I shared her amazing foundation-pieced giant mermaid quilt from that same show. (Which won Viewers Choice) In the last year I tracked her down, and met her on my two trips to the UK in 2024. This fabulous eye-popping quilt is a great example of the ‘Black & White & Color’ trend that I talk about, in my ‘International Quilt Trends’ Zoom lectures.
Helen’s masterful machine quilting earned her a nice cash prize, which I am sure she spent on more fabric. Ha! Helen is a busy mom with school-aged children so we take off our hat to the Super-Moms who can produce award-winning quilts and raise a family. I did it, so I know what it takes!
As always, I’ll be editing my photos of the best quilts to share with you after Houston.
Please note below – I will be attending artist talks at 11 am and 3 pm on both Friday and Saturday, to talk about my quilts in the SAQA Camouflage exhibit and the Sacred Threads exhibit. Exciting news – a detail of my butterfly quilt is on the cover of the Camouflage show book! I’ve printed up postcards of this quilt and they will be on the SAQA table, so please come by and pick up a postcard.
ALSO – If you are coming to Houston, be sure to check out “Tales of Africa” and Janet Stone’s Master Award, sponsored by eQuilter.
We have also co-sponsored “Save the Planet” and Paula Nadelstern’s gallery, with Benartex Fabrics. Watch for our rainbow logo as sponsor for these 4 galleries. We are thrilled to sponsor the work of these incredible artists.
Hope to see you there!
AND…a HUGE THANK YOU to our generous local quilters and guilds who have dropped off ONE HUNDRED donated comfort quilts to eQuilter offices for Hurricane Helene victims. We have shipped 30 last week, 35 yesterday, and the balance will go out tomorrow. Arapahoe County Quilters and Quaking Aspen Guild – you ROCK!

Tonight’s Free eQuilter Pattern celebrates both Dragons (panel is now re-stocked) & Antique Books. This Bibliophile Dragon is perched on a stack of books, and studying one which is quietly smoldering.

We now have 4 of UK artist Cas Holmes’ books in stock including her brand new title “Soulful Stitch” with Deena Beverley. You can find a video interview with Cas in June, when I visited her home studio in Maidstone UK. Her books are all softly clothbound and we like to pet them like cats!
Traveling to Houston this week… I look forward to seeing many of you there! If you see me, please don’t be shy and come up to say hello.
I do want to invite you to come hear me speak about my work in 2 different galleries, during their Friday and Saturday Artist Talks.
On Friday and Saturday I will be in these talks: 11 am – Sacred Theads – my quilt is “Children of War” 3 pm – SAQA Camouflage – my butterfly quilt is on the cover of the exhibit catalog!
Our daughter Sophie Quinn is joining me for a couple days, and she will be coming with me to the SAQA party on Friday 5-7 pm.
I have posted “Part 2- First Ladies and the White House” on my artist blog. You can subscribe to my blog so you will receive an email whenever a new blog is published. Scroll down on this page for the Subscribe box.

The last few months we’ve been fortunate to have an exhibit of Caryl Bryer Fallert-Gentry here in Colorado. Her quilts were hanging at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden, and this stunning show closed on Saturday. We were a proud sponsor of this exhibit!
This is my favorite quilt from the exhibit, and many of you may have seen this in Houston last year, or at the Iowa Quilt Museum in Winterset, earlier this year. The colors are so luscious, you could just eat it with a spoon!
“Confabulation” is 61″ wide and 84″ tall. Depicting Herons & Cranes, in a rainbow of sherbet colors. I’ve wrapped the image above in a yummy stripe that we have in stock now.
