Happy December!
As we approach the Winter Solstice, and the long dark nights, we are finding ways to generate our own light from within.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are writing to you, as our first real snowstorm is hitting here in Boulder Colorado. I will be sharing images from the Taiwan Quilt Festival over the next couple weeks. Enjoy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artist Statement:
I have always liked painting, and in recent years I have learned light watercolor sketches and dyed fabric flowers. I like the rendering effect of watercolors. This work uses fabrics to express the watercolor effect, so the petals of the flowers have the effect of dancing in the wind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Materials:
Cotton, organza, pearl yarn, wool, wire, sequins, beads, crystals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My comments:
This large luminous quilt had layers of sheer organza and brilliant cottons in floral jeweltones, with 3-D embellishment details. The bright colors really ‘pop’ on the solid black background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
