One of the special things about traveling to
\nquilt festivals is the opportunity to meet the talented
\ncelebrities of the industry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We were lucky have a chance to visit with Kaffe Fassett<\/a>
\nand Brandon Mably at the Birmingham Quilt Festival, in their " Shots
\nand Stripes<\/a>" booth, promoting the book of the same name. Our video interview
\nis online now<\/a>, and yes, I had a crook in my neck after looking up at Mr.
\nTall Kaffe during our three-part interview!<\/p>\n

Brandon spoke about their
\nlives as artists<\/a>, Kaffe showed us a quilt made for the Missoni family, and
\nthen they both talked about their trip to Egypt with Amy and
\nDavid Butler<\/a>. Fascinating!<\/p>\n

The exhibit and the book are about beautiful quilts made strictly from Shot
\nCottons and Yarn-Dyed Stripes, which are handwoven in India. I am leaving for
\nIndia in 10 days, so I've been really paying attention to Indian textiles as I
\nprepare for this adventure. <\/p>\n

This last weekend in the UK, there was a scene in the TV show Coronation Street
\nwhere a character was
\nin bed reading Kaffe's biography<\/a>. Juicy colorful reading!<\/p>\n

Of course all of you Kaffe fans know that we have
\nstocked his prints<\/a>, shot
\ncottons, yarn dyes and books<\/a> for many years. We have so many of his
\nproducts that we had to split it into two categories! <\/p>\n

This is the 9th video from the Birmingham Quilt Festival, and I have a few more
\nto post before I leave for India. It is so interesting to see what European
\nquilters are doing these days, and I love to see the cross-pollination of
\nmedia, techniques and color trends. Modern quilting style is showing up across
\nthe pond, and it is also fun to see the European interpretation of this design
\naesthetic.<\/p>\n
