Today I’d like to share the view of Ernest Hemingway<\/a>‘s study, at his Finca Vig\u00eda<\/a> estate in Cuba. This was definitely a highlight of my visit to this island nation, as my visit to Tolstoy’s house and study were highlights of my trip to Russia. It is so fascinating to travel back in time, to visit the home, library<\/a>, and creative space of this literary legend<\/a>. This estate is on the World Monuments Fund’s list of 100 most endangered historic sites.<\/p>\n

Recently there has been a great interest in the life of Hemingway<\/a>. Last year I saw the movie “Hemingway & Gellhorn<\/a>“, about his 3rd wife who was a war correspondent, and who inspired “For Whom the Bell Tolls<\/a>“. I’ve also recently read the book “The Paris Wife” about his first wife. Since visiting Cuba I’ve picked up a couple more books about his life.<\/p>\n

The collage above includes photos from the estate, and similar fabrics from the eQuilter collection, including a library<\/a> full of cats. Hemingway was the male literary version of a Crazy Cat Lady. He collected cats and their descendants still live<\/a> on at least one of his properties. Here you can see the desk and the study, and in the collage are also photos of his famous typewriter, a globe, and a shelf from his 9000 book library<\/a>.<\/p>\n
