Many thanks to all of you who are working on quilts, or who have just shipped out quilts for our massive Hurricane Sandy quilt relief project<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Please read through the guidelines carefully before sending us a question or before shipping a quilt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Timeless Treasures<\/a>
\n warehouse is preparing for the huge wave of packages to start arriving
\nthis coming week.
\nTheir staff will be processing all of the thousands of packages –
\nopening, sorting, safely storing, then staging to send them out to our
\ntrusted organizations who will personally distribute the quilts.<\/p>\n

The owners of Timeless are still without power, as are most of our
\nindustry contacts on the East Coast.
\nWe hope to get as many bed-sized quilts out to the hurricane victims, as
\n SOON as possible, but the project will go on for three months and
\nperhaps beyond.<\/p>\n

Mission of Love<\/a> is gearing
\nup to take a truck full of relief supplies to the East Coast, and we are
\n about to post a challenge grant so you can donate to MOL via Paypal to
\nhelp fund this part of our relief effort – watch for details on Facebook
\n and my Tuesday night Creative Nudge enewsletter.<\/p>\n

Victoria Findlay-Wolfe is also helping us to identify distribution points in the NYC and metro area.<\/p>\n

There are MANY relief efforts well underway now, and I want to be clear
\nthat ANY effort that you support is just fantastic! We are not "in
\ncompetition" with any of them – but we do want to caution you to make
\nsure you are giving to an authentic and reputable group.
\nIn the past we've seen there have been a few people who take advantage
\nof these events for their own gain, so just be sure whoever you work
\nwith is a known entity.<\/p>\n

Over the years, working with Mission of Love<\/a>, we've distributed 10,000 comfort quilts for relief efforts after 9\/11, Haiti, Katrina, the Japan tsunami<\/a>, Colorado Fires<\/a>, and other smaller projects for various orphanages and other disaster relief.<\/p>\n

We have a LOT of experience with this volume of quilts, and our main
\nfocus is treating the quilts with the very special respect and value
\nthat they deserve.
\nIt is just not the same as handing out blankets.
\nIt is a very special gift of love when a person who has lost everything –
\n receives a handmade gift of love from a stranger.<\/p>\n
