Tonight was the IQA Award Ceremony here in Houston. It is like the Academy Awards of the quilting world.<\/p>\n

Here is the Best of Show – a Marina scenic quilt by Cynthia England called “Reflections of Cape Town”. Cynthia won 12.5K plus travel expenses to Houston.<\/p>\n

I’ve made a frame\/collage to go with the photo, showing some of the ocean-themed fabrics we have in stock now.<\/p>\n

Other big winners were:
\nFounders Award – 7.5K – Sally Magee
\nWorld of Beauty – 7.5K – Margaret Solomon Gunn<\/p>\n

Traditional Artistry – 5K – Yoko Izumi
\nContemporary Artistry – 5K – Marina Landi & Maria Lucia Azara
\nMachine Artistry – 5K – Bethanne Nemesh
\nInnovative Artistry – 5K – Melissa Sobotka
\nThread Artistry – 5K – Mikyung Jang<\/p>\n

eQuilter was the sponsor for the prize money in the Group Quilt category, which was won by “Midnight Dreams” made by Lorilynn King, Janell Dahms, Kathy Shier, and Suzy Webster.<\/p>\n

eQuilter is also sponsoring the Fly Me To The Moon exhibit (Apollo Missions and Astronauts) and the Water is Life exhibit. I will be doing tour of the Water is Life exhibit on Thursday at 1 pm or 6 pm. If you are here, please come!<\/p>\n
