This week I am writing to you from Churchill – the Polar Bear capitol of the world. It is the site of the largest gathering of polar bears on the planet – a seasonal event where the bears migrate to this one place where the ice first starts to form so they can go out to feed.<\/p>\n

We are just wrapping up 3 days of wildlife viewing, with my group of travelers. This is my 3rd time up here, and it just gets better every time which is hard to believe. It is impossible to leave here and not feel grave concern for the bears’ plight. I’ll be posting photos of the bears next week.<\/p>\n

Our first video interview from Houston is online now – with artist and teacher Hollis Chatelain<\/a> – talking about the messages in her stunning artwork. You may recall that she had a piece in the recent Water is Life<\/a> exhibits, in Geneva and Rome.<\/p>\n

Our local CU Boulder chapter of Engineers Without Borders<\/a> is going back to Nepal<\/a>, and they have room for about 7 more quilts in their backpacks. They will hand carry these quilts to earthquake victims in mountaintop villages of Nepal.<\/p>\n

Please drop off your donated quilts for Nepal by Dec 9, as our EWB contact will pick them up Dec 10. Thanks!<\/p>\n
