Friendship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It's
\na beautiful thing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I have met more wonderful people who've become
\nwonderful friends in the
\nquilting world<\/a>, than any other group of people I've encountered.<\/p>\n

And
\nyou know what? No matter where I go, I meet quilters
\nand fabric-lovers<\/a>, and we are instantly
\nfriends<\/a> because we share this love of sewing and creating.<\/p>\n

I am just
\nabout to fly
\nacross the Atlantic Ocean<\/a> to meet a bunch of quilter friends, who I don't
\nknow yet! But you know what? I know when I meet them, we'll sit down and start
\ntalking and it will be like we've known each other for ages.<\/p>\n

Today I was
\ngiggling as I thought about this, because it reminds me of the Loyal Order of
\nWater Buffaloes on the Flintstones<\/a>. Remember
\nthat TV cartoon? Except we are more of a sorority than a fraternity, and we wear
\ntiaras instead of Viking hats with horns. (yes, we let boys into our sorority
\ntoo!) We have our special secret jargon (fat quarters, frog stitch, walking
\nfoot, etc.) and our regular guild meetings. <\/p>\n

Unfortunately every guild
\nhas a Pearl
\nSlaghoople<\/a>, but we mostly try to ignore her monologues about rules, so we
\ncan get on with our sewing and our friendships. Oh yeah, and our appreciation of
\neach other's stashes!<\/p>\n

Many years ago on my first
\nvisit to Rome<\/a>, the seeds were planted for a new quilting friendship. This
\nweek our blossoming friendship will bear fruit, when Susan Fiorentino's curated
\nexhibition opens to the staff and visiting dignitaries at the US Embassy in
\nRome. eQuilter is a supporter of this exhibit, and in addition I will be giving
\na presentation there on Friday, reviewing all the international quilt
\nexhibitions that I have photographed in the last year.<\/p>\n

Next Sunday I will
\ngive the same presentation at the Moscow<\/a>
\nQuilt Festival, and new seeds of friendship will be sown… or is that sewn?
