Tonight I am writing to you from my hotel in Ohio, and I am flying back home early tomorrow. I spent a few days in Washington DC at a Color Marketing Group meeting, and then 48 hours in Ohio doing a couple segments for Quilting Arts TV. (You can see previous clips from QA TV here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Today on 9\/11 I had to pause to remember those we lost 17 years ago. We might wish that the world is a better place since then, but the reality is, it is not going to happen unless we get involved ourselves.<\/p>\n

17 years ago we started our charity quilt program, and we distributed 3500 donated quilts (from our generous customers, and quilt guilds) to those who lost loved ones on 9\/11. Since then we have gathered and distributed now close to 13,000 quilts to those in need around the world, with *your* help.<\/p>\n

This week we shipped out the last batch of donated quilts for Hurricane Harvey victims, as we wait for Florence to hit. I know that when there is loss, our customers and friends will count on us and our partners (like Mission of Love) to help those in need.<\/p>\n

We have friends and family in the path of Florence, and we can hope for minimal damage…but we’ll be ready if there is another major hurricane event. For those of you evacuating or hunkering down, we are thinking of you.<\/p>\n

This last week while in DC, I went to visit our senators to express my opinions on a few topics. While in the Senate office building, I snapped this photo. It reminds me of the Pantheon in Rome…which has stood under starry skies since the 2nd century. The dome also could be a mandala design for a quilt. The oculus (eye) gives a view to the heavens, just like the Pantheon…reminding us that we are part of a greater Universe.<\/p>\n
