Set aside 40 minutes with a cup of tea (or something stronger) to hear this lively conversation about color trends with the hosts Susan Brubaker Knapp and Vivika Denegre. Look for Quilting Arts Episode 5 wherever you find your podcasts.<br><br>It&#8217;s Fire Season in the West. 185,000 acres are on fire in Colorado, and almost a million acres have burned in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equilter.com\/search?p_filter_keyword=california&amp;p_search_type=all&amp;p_func=live&amp;fn=nl_20200822193544\">California<\/a>, including the Big Basin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equilter.com\/product\/271018\/the-view-from-here-morning-trail-28-x-44-panel?fn=nl_20200822193544\">Redwood Forest<\/a>. (Which I visited in 2017 on a trip to speak at the San Jose Museum of Quilts &amp; Textiles) A swirling weather pattern is bringing smoke to Colorado from Arizona and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equilter.com\/search?p_filter_keyword=california&amp;p_search_type=all&amp;p_func=live&amp;fn=nl_20200822193544\">California<\/a>, spreading into Nebraska. I see that many of my quilter friends in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equilter.com\/search?p_filter_keyword=california&amp;p_search_type=all&amp;p_func=live&amp;fn=nl_20200822193544\">California<\/a> have had to evacuate and go to shelters, just as school is starting, on top of the Covid danger. Some of these fires will be burning f or months. It feels like a repeat of what our Australian friends went through a few months ago.<br><br>Yes we are living through historic times, and I tell my kids that when they are my age, younger people will ask them what it was like&#8230;just as we have asked those who survived WWII what it was like. I wonder how many of you are documenting what is happening in a History or Story Quilt?<br><br>Coincidentally, this striking fabric came out earlier this year, meaning to be Macro-Cactus but I think <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equilter.com\/product\/268565\/natures-narratives-cactus-colors-rust-digital-print?fn=nl_20200822193544\">it looks like the Covid virus<\/a>. Maybe you&#8217;ll want some to put in a Story Quilt, and now you might want to add some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equilter.com\/search?p_filter_keyword=flames&amp;p_search_type=all&amp;p_func=live&amp;fn=nl_20200822193544\">Fire fabrics<\/a> to that story also.<br><br>This week we got a very specific fabric for Sophie&#8217;s 2020 Story Quilt &#8211; an image of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equilter.com\/product\/275241\/roam-free-flatiron-bison-36-x-44-panel-digital-print?fn=nl_20200822193544\">CU Boulder mascots (Buffalo) in front of the Boulder Flatirons<\/a>. If you know somebody who is a CU Buff alumni or football fan who would like this special panel, snap it up because it is a one-shot-deal! Sophie starts her freshman year of college on Monday, taking mostly online classes.
