Summertime is a time of joyful celebration<\/a> in the flower garden, and over the centuries we have continued the celebration by remembering the colors of the garden in our textile arts. <\/p>\n

My inspiration tonight comes from Crathes Castle in Scotland<\/a>, where I visited a year ago. It is about 15 miles west of Aberdeen, and if you are traveling through the area I highly recommend you visit this treasure trove of historic textiles and needle arts! If you visit in the spring or summer, you will also see the lush gardens that might have inspired the embroidery and tapestries inside. <\/p>\n

This yellow floral chair has an enchanting fantasy of birds<\/a> and blossoms, and it reminded me of the many large scale floral stripes<\/a> that we carry…very much like the wall coverings and textiles in these historic castles. <\/p>\n

Just one of these exquisite large scale floral stripes<\/a> can be an inspiration for a whole project, by the time you coordinate smaller scale florals, and pull out the accent colors for your sashing and borders….or perhaps you may use one of these designs as a border to finish off a floral applique project?
