This rich and exotic fabric was made as a hand-dye, and then was pressed with a stamp dipped in metallic paint. With the use of natural forms such as leaves, ferns, and seed pods to act as a dye and sun resist, this remarkably striking fabric captures the beauty and magic of the South African landscape and its indigenous floral kingdom. Each piece is handcrafted with use of the natural elements and gorgeous, eco-friendly dyes, and can therefore never be exactly reproduced. Created by a collaborative of local residents and limited by the necessary sunny season, these fabrics offer a rich reflection of the mountains, forests, fires, rivers, and foliage of South Africa. The fabric is composed within environmentally sensitive boundaries and the company recycles whenever possible as well as employs unemployed women from the local community. Each product is unique and have the approximate measurements 56" x 70". Larger leaves are about 12", with gold metallic, the fabric is handmade with nontoxic dye by an Eco friendly company in a rural community in South Africa.
