Creative Nudge – Creative Pet Crafts

EasterDog_550

We love to hear about all the crazy
and creative things that you make with our fabrics. One of those categories is
Pet Crafts. With all the novelty prints that we stock ( especially
the dog
and cat
themed fabrics
!), it makes sense that animal-loving quilters and crafters
would shop here to find the perfect themed fabric designs!

Dog owners
make warm doggie jackets, colorful collars, plush beds and waterproof booties
for their canine buddies. Here is a photo of a little dog who was dressed up for
the Easter Parade, a couple weeks ago in NYC. Do you think the owner had fun
putting this outfit together? *wink*

Dog jackets are very common in
cities, where plenty of short-haired dogs are bounding around trying to keep
warm on their early morning walks! Have you made a quilted jacket to keep your
pup toasty?

The little dog from NYC in Easter finery is darling! I think much of the fun of making eye-catching outfits must be to see the reactions of on-lookers. It’s such fun to make people smile. I’m one of the crafters you described who often places orders for dog and cat prints; I make them into dog scarves and catnip toys. Recently I tried your PUL polyurethane fabric too and found it terrific for dog raincoats. It’s soft, pliable, and easy to sew. I line the coats with brushed cotton, so they are reversible, not too heavy, and washable too. I sell some of these items at local craft bazaars and give them to friends as gifts. My biggest pleasure is listening to the stories that people tell me about their pets; it’s such fun to bring pleasure to them and to the special animals in their lives.
