Daylight Savings

A reminder that this weekend is the start of Daylight Savings in most of the US states. Don’t forget to move your clocks ahead by one hour! Many of us have a hard time losing that hour of sleep and getting up an hour earlier…it is kind of like jetlag. So hey, it is a good week to take a trip and have some REAL jetlag so I can’t complain about Daylight Savings…ha!

This coming week I am headed to Switzerland for a week. I haven’t been there since 2006 when we had a Bernina Ambassador Reunion in Steckborn at the Bernina factory. This business trip is for something completely different… stay tuned!

A few days ago we were lucky to see Jake Shimabukuro here in Boulder. We’ve been fans for 10 years, and it has been great to follow his career from scrappy ukulele prodigy, to international music star. We’ve watched him grow from a kid, to a married man with 2 kids of his own.

A couple years ago I approached him after a concert and asked if he’d consider coming to perform with the Boulder Philharmonic. At the concert this week he announced that he’ll be coming back to perform a Ukulele Concerto with the Boulder Phil! I am so excited to see that seed I planted, sprouting into reality.

For those of you who made it to the bottom of the newsletter, I want to share something very personal.

Our daughter Sophie has decided to shave her head to raise money for kids with cancer, in honor of her sick friends at Casey Middle School, and her 6 yr old cousin Lola who has had surgery and is still receiving chemo.

Sophie has set a goal of $10,000!

Trust me, this is totally her idea, but she is determined to do something to help sick kids with cancer.

Any amount helps … it will mean so much to her if you can donate any amount to support her before she has her head shaved next Weds. Sophie thanks you!
