Happy Fall!

Apparently I have forgotten how to travel. I managed to get out the door on Wednesday with my laptop, but no charging cord. Duh! However I am writing to you from San Diego (with the last bit of battery charge) where I just had a delightful couple days with lots of fiber artists and art quilters, at the SAQA Summit. I was one of the speakers, and my little talk was about Art and Activism. It is always good to hear what everybody is talking about, when the quilt tribe gets together. There were lots of big hugs with friends I had not seen for several years. Many serious topics were discussed, but it was a joyful reunion.

Thursday evening we celebrated the Autumn Equinox with a reception at the Visions Museum of Textile Art, and I urge you to visit the current exhibit if you are in the area. There is an exhibit of quilts by SAQA past presidents, and new work from Paula Nadelstern, and more! Then we all walked a block away to the Threads of Inspirations exhibit in building 202, from the SAQA SoCal/NV regional group. Also a lot of fun with some special pieces hanging. We have sponsored exhibits at the Visions Museums for many years, but can you believe this was the first time I’ve visited the museum in person? Well, the pandemic didn’t help, that’s for sure! I really enjoyed visiting this beautiful Arts District, which used to be the Army Barracks.

Even though it is still warm here in Southern California, I know we have had cooler weather back home in Colorado. I saw the first leaves turning as I rode to the airport on Wednesday. That means the Aspen leaves are starting to turn into rippling waves of gold, and the Fall elk rut has begun up in Estes Park. I plan to spend a day up in the mountains after I return home. It is good to immerse oneself in the colors of the turning seasons. My sense of time is so messed up from the last couple years, I feel like I need to go up in the mountains and have a seasonal reset.

I will be posting photos and telling you more about my trip in the Wednesday Creative Nudge e-newsletter.
Hope you have are having a great creative weekend!
