Venice and Rome

From the 9/27 eQuilter newsletter: (last Saturday)

In case you missed my newsletter earlier this week, I've been in Venice working on a design research project. It just also happened to be the week that George Clooney's wedding party arrived in Venice! A couple nights ago we were waiting for a vaporetto (water bus) on the Grand Canal after dinner, and about 20 speed boats came racing up the canal, causing everyone look to see what was happening.

Half the boats were full of party-goers in evening gowns and tuxedos. The other half were paparazzi crammed into boats, standing up with their super telephoto lenses, and flashing away with their cameras. A couple police boats followed at the rear. It was like something out of a movie. George's very own wedding movie – ha!

Today I took the train down to Rome, and met my travel buddy Pam Holland. We are in town for a private reception for an art quilt exhibit at the US Embassy in Rome. This reception is not open to the public, but the exhibit will move on to at least one public venue, so stay tuned for those details. The theme is "World Hunger" and it is in conjunction with the UN's World Hunger program.

I would like to extend this invitation to our friends in Rome, Italy:
