Walking Dogs and Walking Shows

Whew! It has been a very busy week, with 3 days in Pittsburgh for Quilt Market, and 3 days in New York for Design Week.

As you may know, I lived in New York while I worked on 7th Avenue, and I really enjoy having a quick visit back to the city to check out trends, and then hit a museum or two.

One of the things you notice right away is that everybody seems to have a dog here, and dog owners all walk their pooches at the same time in the early evening. The first night I was here, I came across a group of 4 French Bulldogs and their owners who met and socialized on a street corner. A crowd gathered and stared at the dogs. Someone took a photo so I did too.

Today I walked the contemporary furniture fair, which is always inspiring and informative. I am looking for colors, shapes and textures that will give hints as to future trends in the textile industry. I also met the president of Papyrus Greeting Cards and had an interesting chat with her. One meets all kinds of fascinating creative people at these trade shows, and I like to go to presentations and get a different angle on design trends. There is a lot of innovation coming from European wall coverings!

You'll see the results of my trend and color research, over the next year. Stay tuned to our eQuilter newsletter to keep up to date on what's new, what's hot, what is trending up! I walked 2 shows for 5 days total, so I am processing a lot of color trend information this week.
