We Are So Blessed

We hope you are having a lovely holiday and weekend, full of good food and loved ones, ready to take on the rest of the holiday season! At our house we always celebrate 2 birthdays the week of Thanksgiving. This year my birthday sound track was this Beatles song! Paul McCartney turned 64 in 2006, and now (at 80 yrs old) concedes that he should have used a higher number when he wrote that song. Maybe “When I’m 84!” would fit the lyrics a little better – ha.

I spent my birthday at the local production of the Nutcracker, and happened to be sitting next to the family of the dancer playing the adult Clara. The star of the show! They had come up from Colorado Springs. They said they knew 2 of the people who were shot and injured at Club Q there last week. Having suffered our own mass shooting in March last year, our hearts go out – again – to those in Colorado Springs and in the Walmart in Virginia. I just don’t even have words anymore. It is everywhere. Everyone I talk to seems to be touched by this madness. It has been 6 months since the Uvalde school shooting.

They are still receiving and distributing quilts to the school community in Uvalde, and we are also still asking for quilts to be sent to those who lost homes in the Florida hurricanes. If you don’t have those addresses from our previous newsletters, contact customer service.

During the holiday season our hearts turn to those who have less, those who have suffered a loss, those who are struggling with illness and poverty. Our long-term partnership with Mission of Love is one you can all be proud of…Kathy Price and her volunteers have just returned from another mission to help the families of Tecpan in Guatemala, distributing 3000 lbs of corn to widows and single mothers there. Wheelchairs and simple toys were distributed. In fact, MOL filled up a C5 plane with another shipment of humanitarian aid, through the Denton program. Together we continue to support a traditional Mayan weaving school for the girls and young women, and now MOL is planning sewing workshops there.

So again, we thank you for the support of our business, so we can continue to support programs here and abroad, for those in need. We are so blessed.

Sharing your love of fabric,
Luana and Paul
