We Lost a Good One
Last night we lost a wildly creative artist who has brought so much color and joy to the quilting and sewing world. Jane Tenorio-Coscarelli lived life to the fullest and was an inspiration to so many of us. The last time I saw Jane, we were toasting with Mojitos at Xochi in the Marriott in Houston.
We made a video about her exhibit 'Altar Offerings' at the quilt festival in Fall 2019.
I met Jane at Road 2 California - I saw her from a distance in one of her fantastic outfits with matching headpiece - and followed her (as one does) - introduced myself and we had coffee - and discovered we had several mutual close friends. Then we started carrying her beautiful patterns and the rest was history....but way too short of a history.
Jane would love if you share her exhibit Altar Offerings at this video link. She was a sharing and giving person which was expressed in that project. Jane, I know you are smiling and spreading joy now, free of pain. Bless you.
For those of you attending the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham UK later this week, please be sure to look for our beautiful gallery "For the Love of Gaia" with environmental-themed quilts by many talented artists from all over the world. Due to Covid travel restrictions I had to cancel my plans to travel from the US, but we will have 2 of the artists at the show. Cas Holmes and Sheila Frampton-Cooper will be in attendance (mostly in other galleries) but if you are lucky you might catch them in our Gaia gallery. Wish I could be there - but my activist quilt Rocky Mountain Poison will be there. If you go, please do take photos and post them or send to us here.
I'll be giving my Festival of Quilts Zoom lecture "International Quilt Trends" one week later on Saturday August 7. You can pre-register now...on the Festival of Quilts site.
...sharing your love of fabric,
Luana and Paul
