October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Every year we feature Pink Ribbon collections that are fundraisers for Breast Cancer Research, and as you know you can also choose this as your 2% donated to charity when you finalize a purchase at eQuilter. In our 22 year history, out of the $1.8 million raised so far, over $320K has been donated directly from eQuilter to Breast Cancer research and patient support.
You may not know why this cause is so close to our hearts. Paul and I are both committed to this cause because both of our mothers were BC survivors, but also because we have known SO many friends, co-workers, and community members affected by this disease. There is more information coming out to the public about the causes, but we know that toxic contamination can be one of the triggers. I lost a dear friend recently to breast cancer, and I now have 2 friends in the middle of their battle. Because this is a mostly-female industry, we have known so many in the quilt industry who have fought this battle.
So this month we honor all of you who have been affected by breast cancer, and we commit to continue our support to NBCF to find a cure. To those of you fighting BC now, we send our love and a big long supportive hug.
Paul's mom lived to 92, and my mom is still a survivor 38 years after her diagnosis. The treatments today are so much better than what our mothers had to endure, and we know that research into targeted treatments are yielding great advancements in neutralizing BC. Thanks for being part of these success stories, with your support of our charity program.
...sharing your love of fabric,
Luana and Paul
