An ancient and cherished tradition is happily shared in this fun-to-make Kilt pattern. Complete instructions for making an authentic man's Kilt and a woman's Kilt skirt, along with patterns for a Prince Charlie jacket and a vest for men, traditionally worn with a Kilt on formal occasions. Also included are knitting instructions for traditional argyle socks to match your Kilt, as well as a lovely, easy-to-knit woman's vest, featuring a lacy Scottish "horseshoe" design. Suggested fabrics for Kilt: Medium-weight worsted twill tartan wool. Jacket and vest: Suit-quality medium-weight wool or blend. Jacket lapels should be silk peau de soie or similar quality. Kilt lining: finely woven sturdy cotton. Jacket and vest lining: medium-weight lining fabric. Includes men's sizes 36 to 48. Fabric requirements for Kilt: Single width tartan 30" wide / 8 yards, double width tartan 60" wide / 4 yards. Kilt lining: 1 yard. Jacket: 2 to 2 5/8 yards of 45" wide fabric. Vest: 3/4 to 7/8 yard of 45" wide fabric. Scottish Kilts pattern.
