This is a quilt by a Canadian quilter, featuring the Greens Point Lighthouse on Letete Passage, going into Passamaquoddy Bay in New Brunswick.
The funny thing is, I photographed this quilt at the exhibit in New Zealand last month!
The day before I saw this quilt, I had sailed on a huge ferry ship across Cook Strait, traveling from the South Island to the North Island of New Zealand. There was a lighthouse to guide the way, and so this quilt caught my eye the next day.
Often inspirations come in clusters, and if we are paying attention, a group if ideas can fuel our creative juices for a long time.
Even thought our business is in Colorado, we sell lots of fabric with lighthouses, ships, beaches and marine life. Often a quilt with a lighthouse, a ship and a beach will remind us of a memorable vacation on a coast…whether it is the New England Coast, or a beach off the Cook Strait!
Are you planning a trip to the coast, or do you have a great vacation memory involving a lighthouse or a boat?
