The traditional smock worn by cheesemakers in Roquefort, France, falls in gathers from a band collar with a one-button front placket closing. Sleeves are gathered at the wrist into a buttoned band cuff. Shoulder yokes and an underarm gusset complete the typical construction. Our pattern adjusts to fit both men and women. Suggested fabrics: Crisp medium-weight fabrics such as gingham, broadcloth, muslin, lightweight corduroy, cotton homespun. Traditional smocks have small blue and white checks. Fabric requirements: Women's sizes 6-16: 36" wide 3 1/8 yds, 45" wide 2 1/2 yds, 54" wide 1 7/8 yds. Men's sizes 32-38: 36" wide 3 1/4 yds, 45" wide 2 1/2 yds, 54" wide 2 yds. Men's sizes 40-46: 36" wide 3 1/2 yds, 45" wide 2 5/8 yds, 54" wide 2 1/4 yds. Width at lower edge: Women's 52", Men's 58". Finished back length from nape of neck: Women's 29", Men's 31 1/8".
